“Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. ‘Honor your father and mother,’ which is the first commandment with promise: ‘that it may be well with you and you may live long on the earth.’”
Ephesians 6:1-4
“Abolition of the family! Even the most radical flare up at this infamous proposal of the Communists.”
Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels,
Manifesto of the Communist Party (1848)
The stated goal of the satanic Manifesto is to “replace home education by social.” The authors were not talking about homeschooling. They meant parents having authority over their own children. Communism teaches that the government, not parents, should educate and guide children.
Those of us who are baby boomers and older were warned in school about the Cold War and the possibility of annihilation through nuclear weapons. We were taught to fear a military conflict with communist Russia. Little did we know that the real war was already here and we were losing ground. This battle in our land is a hundred years old and, unbelievably, many do not realize they are in the middle of it. Signs of this attack are everywhere:
Movies and television shows that belittle parents. Mom and Dad are made to look like idiots and children are depicted as smart-mouthed geniuses. When was the last time you watched anything that even remotely showed respect for older people and parents?
Autocratic judges who deny the natural and God-given responsibility of parents. A number of years ago one judge had the audacity to say that parents have “no inherent authority” over their own children! This has happened because men have denied the source of real authority: God!
School boards and school officials who blatantly and arrogantly ignore the will of parents. The days of “public” schools in the sense of communities of homes uniting to educate their children were over a long time ago. Our educational system has been seized by the government. Parental rights and divine authority have been shoved aside.
Marx and Engels never lived to see it, but their ungodly and destructive philosophy now rules in high places.
Time has shown that this thinking does not produce the utopia it claims to give. People may think that freedom from the rule of parents will give them a more enjoyable life, but that has not happened. Those who have grown up with this philosophy are more selfish and dissatisfied than ever no matter how much freedom and pleasure they have. The view that every man should do what is right in his own eyes has never worked and never will (Jud. 21:25). Besides this, it is amazing that young people want a system of government that denies God and the soul and would seize control of their own land. They are blinded by their own ignorance.
More importantly, the teaching of the Bible has withstood the test of time and it will remain the only right way to order our lives. Marriage will be here until the end and with it the supervisory role of parents over their children. Jesus said that people will still be getting married when He comes again (Matt. 24:37-39), and He was talking about marriage between a man and a woman. One of the sins named in the list of Gentile vices in Romans 1:30 is “disobedience to parents” (Rom. 1:30). The penalty for cursing, striking, or rebelling against parents in the Old Testament was death (Exod. 21:15, 17; Deut. 21:18-21). If it is serious for an individual to flaunt the law of the Creator on this subject, how much worse is it when men embrace a doctrine that encourages this rebellion?
The promise of God is that things will go well if children honor and obey their parents. May God open the eyes of the lost and strengthen the hands of Christians in this time of war.
