Bioweapons of Satan

“We are not ignorant of his devices.”
II Cor. 2:11
Myth No. 1: Sin is an infection you acquire at birth.
Myth No. 2: Satan forces his way into your heart and makes you sin.
The truth is that sin is a choice. Satan tempts us. He deceives us. But we choose to resist or follow his lead.
The devil is shrewd. He is much more cunning than we often think. He operates by stealth and infects our souls with sin that brings spiritual death.
Insidious false teaching is part of his arsenal. Paul warned that it “will spread like cancer” (II Tim. 2:17). It seems harmless at first, but then it grows until it kills. But many refuse to believe it is real. False teachers see this naïveté and “by smooth words and flattering speech deceive the hearts of the simple” (Rom. 16:18).
Lust is a superinfection of the soul. Satan is using every avenue to spread it, and the internet has become his favorite needle of injection. Pornography is the real pandemic of our time. That is not religious conspiracy theory. It is fact. In The Old Testament, David saw a very beautiful woman bathing (II Sam. 12). He lusted for her and committed adultery with her. That set off a train of sorrow and woe that haunted him for the rest of his life. Now instead of looking from a rooftop, husbands and fathers see vile images constantly on their phones and bring destruction on themselves and on those around them.
Envy is part of spiritual biological warfare. Satan is a master of using it. From Cain to King Saul to the Jewish leaders in Jesus’ day, jealousy has always been one of his most effective weapons. It is a powerful agent because we do not want to admit that we are guilty of it. That is why it can grow inside us so easily. When that happens, this satanically-engineered virus kills love and joy in our hearts.
There are many more. How can we defend ourselves? Watch what you put into your soul. Hide the Word of God in your heart and renew your mind daily (Psa. 119:11; Rom. 12:2). Strengthen yourself against diseases of the heart. Pray to God for strength and trust in Him (Heb. 4:16; Rom. 8:26). “Watch and pray, lest you enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak” (Matt. 26:41).
