Iran in Bible Prophecy?

“We are on a countdown to crisis. The coming nuclear showdown with Iran is a certainty. The war of Ezekiel 38–39 could begin before this book gets published…No prophetic scripture is more crystal clear than Ezekiel's vivid and specific description of the coming massive war in the Middle East that will sweep the world toward Armageddon.”

That “prediction” is from the book Jerusalem Countdown: A Warning to the World by John Hagee. He has made plenty of money and drawn thousands of followers by twisting Scripture to keep people on the edge of their seats. It was written in 2006.

Here are some Bible facts to remember in this day of end-time “prophets”:

  • No one knows when the Lord will return. “But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, but My Father only” (Matt. 24:36). Why do preachers today constantly try to sound the alarm when Jesus said no one knows? And why do so many believe them even after their predictions turn out wrong?

  • When Jesus warned about “wars and rumors of wars” (Matt. 24:6), He was talking about something that happened in the first century. “Assuredly, I say to you, this generation will by no means pass away till all these things take place” (Matt. 24:34). That calamity was the destruction of Jerusalem in 70 A.D. at the hands of the Roman army. When preachers apply this section of Scripture (Matt. 24:1-35) to the end of time, they are taking verses out of context.

  • God took the kingdom from the Jews and gave it to the Gentiles. “Therefore I say to you, the kingdom of God will be taken from you and given to a nation bearing the fruits of it” (Matt. 21:43). Israel lost its special relationship to God. Now the Gentiles are on an equal level with Jews in Jesus’ kingdom—the church (Eph. 2:11-3:6).

  • The universe will be completely destroyed when Jesus returns. “But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night, in which the heavens will pass away with a great noise, and the elements will melt with fervent heat; both the earth and the works that are in it will be burned up” (II Pet. 3:10).

One preacher had enough of all the entertainment in churches and spoke out. He said they turn worship into “a place of hilarious amusement.” These gimmicks, he said, “despiritualize the people; merge

This is Not Not Going to Happen

If you spotted the error, kudos. It’s a common error. I was proofreading an article and saw that I put the word “not” twice: “It is not not…” I had made that mistake many times, but this time I laughe

Is drinking a sin? There is a simple word in the Bible that answers that question. “For the time past of our  life may suffice us to have wrought the will of the Gentiles, when we walked in lascivious
